The official currency of Thailand is the Thai Baht (THB), symbolised as "฿". It is subdivided into 100 satang. The most commonly used banknotes are in denominations of 20, 50, 100, 500, and 1,000 baht, and coins come in 1, 2, 5, and 10 baht, as well as smaller satang coins (25 and 50 satang), though satang coins are less commonly used in daily transactions.
The exchange rate between the Thai Baht and the US Dollar fluctuates regularly. As of recent rates (2024), 1 USD is approximately equal to 35-37 Thai Baht. It’s advisable to check current exchange rates before your trip using reliable currency converters like banks or currency exchange apps, as rates can vary slightly depending on where you exchange your money (airports, hotels, or local exchange services).
